Three of the deceased are believed to be clergy, who died in the accident involving a Rio car and a Sino truck.
He revealed that the accident occurred about 9:44 a.m. and was caused by excess speed and lack of control on the side of the Rio vehicle driver with license plate AKD827DV and the white Sino truck driver with license plate WDL466XA.
According to eyewitnesses, the Rio automobile a driver, a passenger, and three clergymen (in white clotting/apparel with robes) coming from Oke-Aragbiji in Osun State, where they had gone for prayers and a deliverance session.
The motorist was reported to have lost control suddenly due to high speed. He was also asleep behind the wheel when he went over the median and hit and uprooted a street light before crashing head-on with the cement truck.
“The three men of God died due to the impact of the collision while the driver and the passenger in front were injured,” he said.
According to Akinbiyi, the injured victims were rescued and transferred to Ijaye General Hospital in Abeokuta, while the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
