TARABA: Gov imposes 24-hour curfew on Karim town over recent conflicts

THE governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has placed a 24-hour curfew on Karim town, the administrative center of Karim Lamido Local Government Area (LGA), and its surroundings beginning on July 2, 2023.

The curfew was necessitated by renewed communal conflicts in some parts of the local government area after the killing of over thirty lives.

Yusuf Sanda, the governor’s chief press secretary, said in a statement that security services have been instructed to ensure strict compliance and that anyone or any group of people discovered to be disobeying the order shall be dealt with legally.

“All ward heads, village heads, traditional rulers, and stakeholders in Karim Lamido LGA are advised to take note of the development,” the statement concluded.
