HOLDERS Manchester United and Arsenal were the biggest casualties tonight in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, while Fulham, Liverpool, Everton and Chelsea eased through to the quarter-finals.

Manchester United continued their dismal run of form this season as they were beaten 3-0 at home by Newcastle United, just three days after another humiliating defeat by the same margin by Manchester City in the Premier League.

Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall and Joe Willock struck as Newcastle United outclassed Erik ten Hag’s side and avenged last season’s final defeat.

Manchester United have now lost back-to-back home games by three or more goals for the first time in 61 years, and they have now lost four of their last six games at Old Trafford.

At the London Stadium, Arsenal were stunned by West Ham 3-1, which is only the second loss for the Gunners in all competitions this season.

Martin Ordegaard got a stoppage time consolation for Mikel Arteta’s side after an own goal from Ben While and two more strikes from Ghana forward Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen had given the hosts a commanding lead.

Fulham, with Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey in the starting line-up and Alex Iwobi a second half substitute, cruised past Championship high flyers Ipswich 3-1 at Portman Road.

Liverpool saw off Bournemouth 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium with Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez netting either side of Justin Kluivert’s goal for the hosts.

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea shook off their poor Premier League form to beat Championship side Blackburn Rovers 2-0, courtesy of goals from Benoit Badiashile and Raheem Sterling.

In the other match of a busy night, Everton thrashed Burnley 3-0 at Goodison Park with James Tarkowski, Amadou Onana and Ashley Young scoring.
