Over the years, there has a running battle for supremacy between the Eiye confraternity and the Neo Black Movement (NBM) also known as Aiye confraternity or Axemen in the area. This is largely due to the proximity of the community to the
main campus of the state owned university, LASU.
Investigations by Naija Times showed that the two prominent cult group in the area are the Eiye confraternity and the Aiye confraternity which came into prominence in the area when the level of cult activities was at its peak in
LASU.
It was also gathered that rivalry heightened in the area around early 2000 when some members of the Aiye confraternity were burnt alive during an anti-cultism crusade in the university.
This snowballed and led to gruesome of a former President of the University Students’ Union, Tunde Salau on February 13, 2000.
Checks by Naija Times further revealed that each cult gang has their territory. For instance the Aiye confraternity controls the Franklas, Obadawodu and PPL, while the Eiye confraternity controls some parts of Iba, Ipaye, Adolf Iyana School, First Gate, Igbo-Elerin, and Iba Housing Estate.
It was learnt that activities of cult gangs have grown in size and influence due to the involvement of prominent members of
community who are member of the various confraternity.
