THE Rivers State Executive Council has approved a N800 billion budget proposal for the fiscal year 2024 despite the crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The title of the proposal is ‘Budget of Renewed Hope, Consolidation, and Continuity’

The Commissioner for Information, Joe Johnson, who briefed the Secretary to the State Government following the council meeting, said the idea was debated alongside the Medium Term Expenditure Framework, as submitted by the Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu.

The areas with the most budgetary votes, according to the Commissioner, are infrastructure, education, health, and security.

Tammy Danagogo, Secretary to the State Government, stated that the details of the projections were thoroughly considered before arriving at the number.

He stated that the budget proposal, as the title suggests, is intended to give people new hope and to solidify the state’s successes, particularly in infrastructure and human capital development.
