THE Supreme Court has affirmed Bassey Otu’s election as governor of Cross River State.

The Supreme Court upheld the Court of Appeal’s decision to declare Otu the winner of Cross River State’s governorship election on March 18, 2023.

Recall that in November 2023, the appellate court denied the challenge brought by Sandy Onor, the PDP’s governorship candidate, for lack of merit.

Onor has already faced the same fate in the election petition tribunal on September 26, 2023.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Otu the winner of the elections, with 258,619 votes winning 15 of the state’s 18 local governments, defeating his closest challenger, Onor, who received 179,636 votes.
