AN 18-year-old apprentice in Anambra State has reportedly impregnated 10 girls within a span of five months, including his master’s daughter and a salesgirl, leading to widespread concern.
According to the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, the young man was sent to learn a trade, but within three months, he impregnated both his master’s daughter and another female worker. He was subsequently dismissed from his apprenticeship.
Obinabo, speaking during a live broadcast on social media, revealed that after the apprentice returned to his village, the situation worsened.
In just two months, he allegedly impregnated eight more girls.
“This case has gone beyond my capacity,” Obinabo said. “The boy told me he simply promises love and marriage once he becomes successful. I’m asking the public for suggestions because I don’t know if this is spiritual or psychological.”
The commissioner added that the boy’s mother visited her office, expressing deep distress over the repeated incidents.
“Each time I see a girl coming toward our house, my heart skips,” she reportedly said.
Obinabo did not disclose the identity of the boy, his family, or their community, but emphasized the need for urgent intervention due to the boy’s age and the number of pregnancies involved.
