TWO people have lost their lives in a fatal road accident that occurred today at the Cele Bus Stop area inward Mile 12 in Lagos.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that the incident, which took place in the early hours of the day, involving two 40-foot container trucks.
According to a statement issued by the agency’s Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, preliminary findings indicated that one of the trucks crashed into another stationary container truck from behind due to excessive speed.
The force of the collision left the driver of the moving truck and his assistant trapped inside the cabin.
Despite rescue and recovery efforts by emergency responders, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
LASEMA stated that recovery operations are still ongoing, with efforts underway to remove the damaged trucks and their cargo to restore normal traffic flow in the area.
Traffic control measures have also been put in place to prevent further incidents.
The agency urged motorists to remain patient and adhere strictly to traffic instructions while clearance operations continue.
