AN Abuja-based company, Stone Rockers Limited, has instituted a ₦5 billion lawsuit against the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps over the alleged unlawful closure of its operations and seizure of its equipment.

The suit, filed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olalekan Ojo, lists the NSCDC, its Commandant General, and Attah John Onoja as defendants.

According to the company, the security agency overstepped its legal authority by sealing off its quarry site without obtaining a court order.

The site, located in Kuje Area Council of Abuja, is reportedly backed by Quarry Lease No. 37326.

The dispute stems from an incident on July 24, 2025, when NSCDC operatives allegedly shut down the company’s operations over claims that it encroached on another firm’s land.

The company maintains that its property was confiscated without due legal process.

In its claims before the court, Stone Rockers is seeking declarations that the shutdown and subsequent seizure of its assets were unlawful, arbitrary, and an abuse of statutory powers.

It is also asking the court to compel the defendants to pay ₦5 billion in damages, return all seized equipment, and refrain from further interference with its business.

Additionally, the firm is requesting permission to resume its operations without obstruction.

The case has been assigned to Mohammed Garuba Umar and is scheduled for hearing on May 19, 2026.
