THE Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party has announced Chibuzo Okereke as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The party said Okereke emerged through a broad consensus among members and stakeholders, a decision formally affirmed at a meeting held in Abuja on May 30, 2026.
According to a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, Okereke was selected based on his leadership qualities, intellectual capacity, and commitment to public service.
The party described him as a governance expert, policy strategist, and reform advocate whose work in public policy and institutional development aligns with its vision of accountable and transformational leadership for Nigeria.
It highlighted his role as president of a legislative governance and policy institute, as well as his experience as a consultant to National Assembly committees and his academic contributions as a lecturer in public policy and administration.
The statement further noted that Okereke holds advanced degrees in public administration and legislative studies, and has been active in youth empowerment, democratic reforms, and policy development initiatives.
The faction, led by Nenadi Usman, said his emergence reflects the party’s goal of presenting a credible and reform-driven alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.
