THE Bauchi State Police Command has successfully rescued two kidnapping victims and apprehended five suspected kidnappers during a coordinated security operation in Alkaleri Local Government Area.

The development was disclosed today in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib.

According to the statement, the victims a 40-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son were abducted on June 2, 2026, after armed men reportedly stormed a residence in Kwarin Gadali Hamlet, located in the Pali District of Alkaleri LGA.

Following the report of the abduction, police operatives from the Pali Outstation immediately launched an intelligence-led investigation aimed at tracking down the suspects and securing the safe return of the victims.

Habib explained that a joint security team made up of police officers, military personnel, and local vigilantes acted on credible intelligence, leading to the arrest of three suspects in Kuka Village, Duguri District, on the same day.

The suspects were identified as Mainasara Umaru, 23, Buba Umaru, 20, and Muhammadu Usman, 19. Police said investigations traced the suspects to their residence, where they were taken into custody.

Further inquiries into the case resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects on June 3.

Authorities said one of the earlier suspects provided information that helped investigators determine the whereabouts of the victims and identify other individuals connected to the crime.

The intelligence gathered subsequently led to the arrest of another suspect, Ahmadu Umaru, in Dalgade.

Security operatives later carried out a follow-up operation that resulted in the successful rescue of the abducted woman and her son. The victims were recovered unharmed and taken to the General Hospital in Alkaleri for medical evaluation and care.

The police spokesperson stated that all five suspects remain in custody while the case has been transferred to the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation.

He added that efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate and recover weapons allegedly used during the operation.

The latest arrests come amid continued efforts by security agencies to combat kidnapping and related crimes across the country.

Earlier in the week, the Edo State Police Command recovered the bodies of two kidnapped victims in Ovia North-East Local Government Area and arrested one suspect in connection with the case.
