THE Former Secretary to the Benue State Government, Professor David Salifu, has died after reportedly sustaining gunshot injuries during an attack by suspected kidnappers in Taraba State.
According to reports, the incident occurred yesterday in Wukari while Salifu was travelling to Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
He was said to have escaped from the attackers but suffered gunshot wounds during the encounter.
The former SSG was rushed to a hospital in Makurdi for medical treatment but was later confirmed dead yesterday night.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident, and further details surrounding the attack remain unclear.
Efforts to obtain a response from the Benue State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer could not be reached at the time of reporting.
