A leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Engineer Buba Galadima, has described the proposed Peter Obi-Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso presidential ticket as a “healing ticket,” saying it has the potential to unite Nigeria and address the country’s long-standing divisions.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Galadima said members of the Kwankwasiyya movement supported Obi because they believe an alliance with Kwankwaso offers the best opportunity to rebuild the nation.

According to him, the partnership was designed to foster reconciliation and strengthen relations between the North and the South-East, stressing that Obi should be regarded as a national leader rather than a candidate representing a particular ethnic group.

Galadima disclosed that efforts to build understanding between the two regions had been ongoing for more than two years, adding that the initiative had helped promote dialogue and reduce tensions.

He also said Obi had pledged to prioritise security, agriculture and education if elected president, while involving members of the alliance in addressing the country’s key challenges.

Responding to critics of the alliance, Galadima argued that there was no justification for attacks on supporters of the ticket, noting that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had previously selected running mates from the South-East.

While acknowledging that ethnic and religious politics have contributed to Nigeria’s divisions, he maintained that the Obi-Kwankwaso alliance is focused on promoting national unity rather than sectional interests.

Galadima added that the ticket would also prioritise job creation, agriculture, skills development and local manufacturing to stimulate economic growth and reduce unemployment if elected into office.
