The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State, Isa Ashiru, has brokered peace among rival factions of the party, bringing an end to the leadership crisis that had affected the state chapter.
The reconciliation meeting, which lasted about three hours on Wednesday, was held at Ashiru’s office in Kaduna and brought together factional chairmen, party executives and other key stakeholders.
Among those in attendance were Elder Patrick Ambut, Ben Bako, Tijjani Mustapha, Bege Katuka, the party’s Zonal Vice Chairman, Hafsat Baba, and several other leaders.
Speaking after the meeting, Ambut described the reconciliation as a significant milestone for the party in Kaduna, praising Ashiru’s leadership in uniting members. He said all factions had resolved to work together to strengthen the party and prepare for the 2027 general elections.
“The success of the ADC in the forthcoming general elections remains our collective priority, and the issue of factionalisation in Kaduna has now been resolved,” Ambut said.
Also addressing journalists, Tijjani Mustapha described the meeting as cordial and fruitful, noting that the 11 party leaders in attendance reached agreements that would be communicated in a formal communiqué to be released later.
Ben Bako also confirmed that the leadership dispute had been settled, adding that steps were being taken to resolve outstanding legal matters involving the party.
According to him, effective leadership is reflected in the ability to unite people behind a common purpose, a goal he said had been achieved through the reconciliation process.
