THE governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has publicly endorsed the Rainbow Coalition, a political alliance comprising members of different political parties in Rivers State and led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Fubara announced his support during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the Riven Medical Facility, a public-private partnership pharmaceutical manufacturing project in the state.
The governor declared President Bola Tinubu as his preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 elections and endorsed Kingsley China as his preferred governorship candidate.
He also urged his supporters to vote for all candidates contesting under the Rainbow Coalition.
According to Fubara, the era of political conflict in Rivers State has ended, stressing that peace and unity are now essential for the state’s growth and development.
He said he had fully aligned with the coalition and dismissed suggestions that he should delay joining the political movement.
Fubara also cautioned against actions capable of causing divisions in the state, insisting that he would not support any agenda that could threaten the peace currently being enjoyed in Rivers.
Speaking on the Riven Medical Facility project, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring its successful completion.
He explained that the government agreed to support the investment after receiving assurances from the investors and relevant officials regarding its feasibility and implementation timeline.
He disclosed that the first phase of the pharmaceutical factory is expected to be completed within three months, describing it as a strategic investment that will promote industrialisation, create employment opportunities, and position Rivers State as a major production hub for medical consumables.
Fubara added that the project is expected to stimulate economic activities, attract both local and international investors, and encourage the establishment of complementary industries around the facility.
The governor further assured investors of the state’s continued support and called on the host community to cooperate with the company to ensure the project’s success.
He noted that the Rivers State Government is committed to preventing contractual disputes that could discourage investment, revealing that the state is currently involved in legal disputes with several companies valued at more than ₦200 billion.
Fubara expressed confidence that the project’s first phase would be completed and officially commissioned within the next three months.
