TWO notorious terrorists were arrested by troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) following a fierce gun battle at Geshi Village along the Rafin Kada Road in the Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The incident, which occurred on 11 July 2024, also led to the seizure of two motorcycles that were being used by the criminals.
A statement released by the Acting Assistant Director of the 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Oni Olubodunde, mentioned that the troops swiftly responded to the area and engaged the armed men in a fierce gunbattle.
The terrorists were eventually subdued and forced to retreat in disarray into the bush with gunshot wounds.
Subsequently, the troops pursued the criminals further, resulting in the apprehension of two terrorists along with their motorcycles, who are currently in custody for interrogation.
The commander lauded the troops for their courage and dedication to their duties, highlighting the operation as a demonstration of the troops’ steadfast commitment to eliminating kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities in the state.
He assured that the Brigade would continue to intensify its efforts in eradicating criminal elements from Taraba State.
In a separate incident, troops from Headquarters 6 Brigade Jalingo discovered a nine-year-old pupil named Dorothy Kwatsumen wandering in her school uniform within the Jalingo metropolis at the Gongomaliki area in the Yorro area of the state during a routine patrol.
After locating the pupil’s school, Glory Children Academy, and speaking with the head teacher, it was revealed that the school had been searching for her for approximately 24 hours and had reported the incident to the Jalingo Police Division.
The troops successfully reunited the pupil with her parents.
