THE family of Apostle Emmanuel Egoh Bako, the kidnapped chairman of the Kaduna State chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, heaved a sigh of relief yesterday when the cleric and his wife, Cindy regained freedom from their abductors’ den.
Their freedom came two days after abduction. The couple were kidnapped by gunmen who invaded the Albarka Prayer Camp at Fadan Kagoma near Kafanchan in Jema’a Local Government Area of the state about 8.pm on Christmas Day.
It was gathered that the gunmen shot indiscriminately to scare away other people present at the Prayer Camp before taking away the cleric, wife and other man identified as Douglas.
A statement by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said Bako and the wife were freed from the kidnappers’ den on Sunday.
In the statement titled, ‘Apostle Bako, wife regain freedom,’
the commissioner said the Secretary of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria in Kaduna State, Rev. Tony Inwulale, also confirmed the development to the government.
According to Aruwan, Governor Nasir El-Rufai could not hide his joy over the development and offered his best wishes to the Bako and his wife.
“The Kaduna State Government has been informed by the security agencies of the release of Apostle Emmanuel Ego Bako and his wife, Cindy Bako on Sunday afternoon by their abductors,” the commissioner added.
