GOVERNOR Simon Bako Lalong has expressed confidence in the Nigerian army in tackling insecurity in Plateau and the country at large.
The governor said despite the current challenges faced by the army across the country, he believed that there would be light at the end of the tunnel.
Lalong said this yesterday when the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Faruk Yahaya, paid him a courtesy visit, at Government House, in Jos.
“We have confidence in the army. We hope that they will continue to do their best. We know that you are doing your best. The problem you have inherited is too many, and they cannot be overcome at once. The onslaught in the North East, the North West, and North Central, is commendable. ”
In his remarks, General Yahaya appreciated the effort of the governor towards ensuring peace in the state, saying he should not be distracted by challenges in his efforts to restore peace and harmony in the State.
The Army Chief said fighting insecurity was not always easy saying “there are always challenges to restore law and order but you have to endure because you can not overcome the challenges just overnight.”
“I appreciate all your efforts at stemming the security challenges and supporting the GOC to bring peace in Plateau. I also appreciate the work of the GCO in achieving peace. I want to assure you that the army headquarters will continue to support the state at any moment.”
