THE Kano State government today through the Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), issued an order for tricyclists to avoid a number of important township roads in the city.

According to a statement by KAROTA’s public relations officer, Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Nai’sa, the directive came after the state government provided mass transit buses to take over the transportation of people along the chosen routes.

Two of the main township roads where tricycles are prohibited are the Ahmadu Bello Way by Munduawa to Gezawa (Hadejia Road) and Tal’udu to Gwarzo Road.

It stated that the availability of mass transit buses will significantly lessen the difficulties experienced by commuters.

The government stated further that it would identify and announce more routes that tricyclists should avoid once the vehicles are ready to take over the routes.

Recall that the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje recently formally launched, the Kano City Mass Transit Scheme.

The governor at project’s launch, commissioned 100 buses and 50 taxis in order to alleviate transportation issues especially on the Jogana, Yankura to Janguza corridor.
