SUDAN: 126 more Nigerian evacuees arrive

ANOTHER group of Nigerians stuck in Sudan has arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Tarco Aviation’s plane, carrying 126 evacuees from Port Sudan, arrived at 12:25 p.m.

So

far, there has been no record of a Nigerian being killed.

Officials processed the returnees upon their arrival, including the completion of returnee registration paperwork given to them by government officials.

Officials from NEMA, NIDCOM, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Nigeria Immigration Service met with them.

Others in the greeting party included Nigeria Police Force, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and military personnel.

According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), over 2,000 Nigerians have already been evacuated since the conflict in the North African nation began with about 500 Nigerians still in Sudan awaiting airlift.

In the course of the evacuation process, Tarco Aviation has made nine trips.

The Nigerian government yesterday returned 136 Nigerians from the North Africa country that has been devastated by conflict between two rival generals.

NEMA reports that since the start of the war, over 11th planes have flown Nigerians out of Sudan, including men, women, children, and pregnant women.
