FOUR farmers were killed by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in the border community of Kerawa, located in the Gwoza local government area of Borno State.

The attack occurred yesterday between 12 and 1 PM while the victims were working in their fields.

This incident comes nearly two months after multiple explosions claimed the lives of over thirty people in Gwoza town.

The councilor for Jimini ward, Bukar Aji, and Yakubu Ali, the chairman of the Kerawa community association, confirmed the tragic event.

Kerawa is a border town adjacent to Cameroon, situated in the Mandara mountains, where these terrorists are known to operate.

The Divisional Police Officer for Gwoza, stated that he was not yet aware of the situation but promised to investigate further.

He also mentioned that the attack might have originated from Kerawa in Cameroon rather than the Nigerian Kerawa, noting that there was a similar killing in the Cameroonian Kerawa a few weeks ago, which the populace mistakenly thought occurred in the Nigerian Kerawa.

Gwoza was previously declared a caliphate by the terrorists after its capture in 2014, before being reclaimed by Nigerian military forces.
