SUPER Eagles stars Ademola Lookman and Raphael Onyedika were both on target tonight as their clubs Atletico Madrid and Club Brugge drew 3-3 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League play-offs tie in Belgium.
Lookman struck in first-half stoppage time to give Atletico Madrid a 2-0 lead, while Onyedika netted in the seventh minute of the second half to begin Club Brugge’s comeback, and then assisted the late equaliser.
Christos Tzolis scored that late equaliser one minute from full-time to secure the dramatic draw.
Tzolis slammed home an angled shot in to level the tie although the goal was initially ruled out for offside but then confirmed after a VAR check.
Brugge fought back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to level the score but then looked to have thrown it away when Joel Ordonez turned the ball into his own net in the 79th minute.
Yet they head into next Tuesday’s return leg in Madrid with the scores level.
In Norway, Bodo/Glimt secured an upset 3-1 victory over Serie A leaders Inter Milan in the first leg of their tie.
The Norwegian side took the lead in the 20th minute when Kasper Hogh’s backheel set up Sondre Brunstad Fet, who calmly slotted into the bottom corner.
Inter equalised 10 minutes later through 20-year-old Pio Esposito, who turned sharply inside the box to fire in after Carlos Augusto’s through ball.
Despite dominating after the break, the visitors fell behind again when Jens Petter Hauge fired home following a defensive error.
Hogh netted the third three minutes later, converting from close range following Ole Didrik Blomberg’s precise assist.
The return leg is next Tuesday.
In the early kick-off in Azerbaijan, Anthony Gordon scored four goals to lead Newcastle United to a comfortable 6-0 victory over hosts Qarabag, while Bayer Leverkusen secured a 2-0 win at Olympiacos in one of the night clashes.
