PRESIDENTIAL aide, Abdulillahi Yakassai, has disclosed that Nigeria’s worsening insecurity is taking a personal toll on Bola Ahmed Tinubu, leaving him with little rest as efforts intensify to address the crisis.

Yakassai, who serves as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North-West), made the remark during a television interview, noting that the president regularly convenes security meetings at the Presidential Villa in a bid to curb the situation.

According to him, while some regions have seen improvements, emerging threats and evolving tactics continue to pose serious challenges.

His comments come amid growing public concern that insecurity across parts of the country has deteriorated under the current administration.

However, Yakassai argued that the crisis is longstanding and cannot be solely attributed to the present government.

He explained that insurgents have increasingly adopted guerrilla-style strategies, making them harder to track and combat.

He also suggested that certain actors may be deliberately fueling instability to undermine the government and damage its image.

Despite the ongoing challenges, Yakassai pointed to areas where security conditions have improved, including routes between Abuja and Kaduna, as well as parts of Zamfara State.

He noted, however, that criminal elements appear to have shifted their operations to other regions such as Niger and Kwara states.

He added that security agencies are actively responding to these developments, citing recent efforts by law enforcement leadership to assess affected areas.

While acknowledging that more work remains, Yakassai expressed optimism that sustained efforts and collective action would gradually reduce insecurity across the country.
