A President Kashim Shettima has inaugurated a newly built banquet hall by the Kaduna State Government, describing the project as a testament to purposeful leadership and strengthened institutions.
Speaking at the ceremony in Kaduna, Shettima reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the state, highlighting its strategic role in Nigeria’s political and socio-economic structure.
He noted that Kaduna remains central to national development, which explains the consistent rollout of federal initiatives in the state.
He emphasized that the government’s repeated engagement in Kaduna reflects its importance, adding that the state’s relevance cannot be overlooked without affecting the entire country.
The Vice President lauded Governor Uba Sani for combining infrastructure development with efforts to strengthen governance systems, describing this approach as vital for sustainable growth.
He stressed that effective governance goes beyond physical projects, requiring systems that promote accountability, efficiency, and improved service delivery.
According to him, the facility will support high-level meetings, policy discussions, and official ceremonies, while addressing infrastructure gaps that often limit such engagements.
He also expressed confidence that the hall would position Kaduna as a hub for regional and international events, boosting economic activities through conferences, exhibitions, and cultural programs.
In his remarks, Governor Sani said the project was designed as a strategic investment in institutional capacity and public engagement rather than just a physical structure.
He revealed that the facility, built on 2.7 hectares with about 5,000 square metres of space, can host 1,000 guests in banquet format and 1,300 in theatre style.
Sani added that the hall is intended for diplomatic functions, international conferences, exhibitions, and policy dialogues aimed at fostering partnerships and driving development, aligning with his administration’s vision of positioning Kaduna as a centre for investment and global engagement.
Former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi described the project as a major achievement delivered within a short timeframe, while former Vice President Namadi Sambo also commended it as a significant step toward modernising governance in the state.
Kaduna continues to attract federal attention due to its economic potential as well as ongoing security challenges, including banditry, farmer-herder conflicts, and kidnappings along major routes.
