THE former deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State during the 2023 elections, Dr. Yusuf Bello Danbatta, has officially left the party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Danbatta announced his defection in a statement issued today, explaining that the decision came after extensive consultations with political leaders, supporters, associates, and other stakeholders.
According to him, the move was driven by his desire to contribute more effectively to the development of Kano State and Nigeria.
He stated that the APC provides a better platform for advancing the interests of the people and supporting policies aimed at improving governance and development.
The former PDP chieftain said his decision was also influenced by the leadership approach and developmental programs being implemented by the Kano State government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
He commended the administration’s “Kano First Agenda,” describing it as a transformative framework focused on good governance, infrastructure development, human capital growth, and the overall advancement of the state.
Danbatta reaffirmed his commitment to public service, stressing that he remains dedicated to promoting unity, progress, and development regardless of political affiliation.
He also urged his supporters and political associates to join him in supporting initiatives aimed at sustaining peace, stability, and growth in Kano State.
The defection adds to the recent wave of political realignments as parties continue to position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.
