Nigerian musician Ycee has clarified his stance on the controversial phrase “Olodo uprising,” stating he did not invent the term and that many people misunderstood the point he was attempting to make.
During a recent conversation, Ycee mentioned that his concern was about how the pursuit of wealth has impacted Nigerian society, arguing that some now justify questionable behaviour as long as money is involved.
He said his comments were misinterpreted as classist or elitist because of his level of education, emphasising that he only holds a secondary school certificate and does not have a university degree.
Ycee also disclosed that he has always been passionate about reading and once intended to study Computer Science at university but was unable to meet the required admission quota at the time.
