KADUNA: Buhari visits freed train passengers, applauds military

EARLIER today, President Buhari met with the 23 survivors of the train attack between Abuja and Kaduna on March 28, 2022.

According to presidential spokesman Malam Garba Shehu, Buhari met the victims at the hospital affiliated with the Nigerian Defense Academy.

Shehu stated that Buhari stopped at the hospital to applaud the Nigerian military for its valiant efforts in ensuring the hostages’ safe release from Boko Haram terrorists before boarding NAF 001 returning to Abuja from the Kaduna International Airport.

According to Shehu, members of the Chief of Defence Staff Action Committee, headed by Maj.-Gen. Usman Abdulkadir (Rtd), who helped secure the hostages’ release, were reportedly present at the hospital.

He listed Brig.-Gen. Abubakar Saad, Dr. Murtala Ahmed Rufai, Ibrahim Abdulllahi, Amb. Ahmed Magaji, and Secretary Prof. Yusuf Usman as additional individuals.

According to the presidential spokesman, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. LEO Irabor, had earlier introduced the Committee members and briefed the President.

Senior special assistant to the president for media and publicity Garba Shehu revealed this in a statement headlined “President Buhari meets freed Kaduna train passengers, praises Nigerian military for their heroic services,”

Shehu revealed that after commissioning Cadets of 69 Regular Course (Army, Navy, and Air Force) of the NDA in Afaka, Kaduna State, the President made an impromptu visit to the hospital to meet the train attack victims.
